The popular singer from the UK is seeking financial damages from Samsung Electronics America and Samsung Electronics Britain, as well as anyone else involved, after a photo of her taken from Twitter was reportedly used on boxes that contained TV mounts and wall brackets sold throughout Europe.
According to the recently filed complaint, in California state court, the photograph was taken from Twitter and used in 2018 to advertise Dua Lipa content on Samsung televisions, making the image widely visible and associating her with a promotion for the company’s products.
The lawsuit was filed by Eagle Visionzone, a company that does business as Wilful Publicity and which licenses some of Dua Lipa’s image rights told Reuters that the “Levitating” singer is seeking damages from Samsung for its use of her photo on the TV and mobile phone mount packaging.
